ACCOUNTING CLERK II
GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE RIGHT PERSON!!!
Norwegian Cruise Line, one of the fastest growing cruise lines in the travel industry today, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Clerk II to join our Miami based team.
BASIC PURPOSE:
This position processes checks, cash for deposit and credit card payments and the application of discount certificates in an accurate and timely manner. Other responsibilities include researching and resolving payment application problems and issuing and responding to questions from travel agents, customers and various Norwegian Cruise Line departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processes daily mail by opening correspondence and copying all checks received.
Groups checks in batches. Makes copies of checks and enters check information (reservation number, check amount and check number) into the reservation system. Matches check information against information displayed in reservation system’s screens. Reviews, researches and resolves payment application issues such as but not limited to misapplication of payments, check/payment application amount discrepancies and incorrect splitting of payments. Contacts appropriate departments, travel agents or direct guests to reinstate canceled reservations or verify information and resolve issues appropriately.
Prepares and submits spreadsheet detailing received amenity check payments to appropriate department, so appropriate amenities can be created for guests.
Prepares batch payment documentation for deposit. Gathers and sums all checks within a batch for deposit and enters amount of each check into the bank capture system. Scans checks. Completes deposit slips and attaches calculator tape and deposit slips to check batch. Sends deposits to the bank via remote capture transmission and courier on a daily basis.
Creates discount certificates in the reservation system by entering the information of the certificates (expiration date and amount). Applies discount and bonus commission certificates to reservations.
Process credit card call-back transactions by contacting credit card processor to obtain manual approval on pending credit card transactions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Our client, a motivated company in the west suburbs is searching for a Staff Accountant to add to its team.
The primary responsibilities for this occupation are as follows:
- Perform various accounting functions, including account reconciliations, bank reconciliations and variance identification
- Execute daily journal entries in the JD Edwards g/l
- Assist Senior Accountant with month end, quarter end and year end closings
- Assist Senior accountant with financial statement preparations
- Financial Analysis as needed

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
-Two years prior experience in a Staff Accountant role
-A strong grasp of GAAP and related concepts
-Bank reconciliation experience
-G/L and journal entry experience
-Proficiency in Word, Excel required. Navision Accounting Software a Plus
-Strong organizational and analytical skills
-The ability to relate business transactions to accounting processes and entries
