Traveling Director of Resident Assessment

Position Profile

We are currently seeking a Director of Resident Assessment / MDS Coordinator to support our facilities in PA!
 

QUALIFICATIONS: 


Responsible for the development and completion of the resident assessment process in accordance with the requirements of the Federal and state regulations as well as Company policy and procedures.  Your role will be to fit in and do the RNAC MDS Coordinator job at facilities in throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, and one location in New Jersey,  as needs arise. The DRA traveler will report to the Director of Operations, and have dotted lines to the Executive Directors in the centers assigned . The traveling DRA will be assigned a company car and a credit card for expenses (Expense Reports will be submitted). There will be times the traveling DRA will do specific tasks other than MDSs, ie, care plans only, fine tuning orientation. The traveling DRA will be home on the weekends.
 

--  RN, licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey

--  Meet Director of Resident Assessment qualifications

--  Completed MDS 3.0 training with understanding of processes

--  Have clinical assessments skills necessary to complete MDSs

--  Able to make independent decisions and have solid analytical skills

--  Understand Medicare/Managed Care guidelines and regulations

--  Able to relate positively, favorably and cooperatively with others, have effective
     interpersonal skills and able to work with IDT

--  Proven written and oral communication skills

--  Be knowledgeable of nursing and medical standards of practice as well as
     laws, regulations and guidelines for longterm care

--  Be able to travel, including overnight stays

--  3 years clinical experience in health care setting, minimum 2 years in longterm
     care, prior experience as proficient RNAC

CREW MEDICAL SPECIALIST

Norwegian Cruise Line, one of the fastest growing cruise lines in the travel industry today, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Crew Medical Specialist to join our Miami based team.

BASIC PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for overseeing Norwegian Cruise Line's pre-employment medicals, bi-annual crew medical examination process and the Merchant Mariner Certificate documentation process ensuring all Norwegian Cruise Line crew members meet the necessary requirements/guidelines for shipboard employment. Also represents Norwegian Cruise Line America as the designated employer representative for Federal Drug Screen processing and declaration for all drug screens performed ashore. Responsible for the coordination of all medical care for crew members on medical leave ensuring appropriate medical care is provided.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Coordinates all medical care provided to Norwegian Cruise Line crew members on medical leave in Hawaii and/or treating as a result of shore-side medical referrals. Administers appointments with medical providers through Health Systems International.
Confers with medical providers concerning medical care provided to crew. Conducts review of medical treatment/records and evaluates fitness for shipboard duty with the assistance of the Manager of Crew Medical.
Oversees pre-employment process of crewmembers and determines eligibility from a medical standpoint based upon established guidelines and clinical knowledge. Drafts letters withdrawing pre-employment offers for candidates who do not meet the necessary medical requirements for shipboard employment as well as for currently employed crewmembers who fail to meet these criteria.
Reviews and maintains crew medical files to ensure appropriate and timely medical care. This includes gathering, organizing and examining medical notes, reports, laboratory results and medical referrals. Drafts correspondence to various medical providers as well as maintains phone and interview notes.
Maintains current list of crewmembers on medical leave in coordination with crew claims and ensures all maintenance and cure obligations are met in a timely manner. This includes processing payment of wages, maintenance and other expenses in connection with legal obligations.
Provides assistance to staff at training facility regarding ill or injured trainees and the need for further evaluation prior to ship assignment.
Works closely with the US Coast Guard regarding Drug and Alcohol Program requirements. Maintains data for and assists the US Coast Guard with audits. Remains updated on any laws and applicable maritime regulations.
Provides support to shipboard medical staff as well as assists crewmembers who are medically disembarked in Hawaii on a 24/7 basis with use of duty phone.
Works with Health Systems International to assist in obtaining discounted/preferred rates for medical providers and ensuring invoices are processed for payment. Negotiates preferred rates from other providers such as hotels, pharmacies, local transportation, etc.
Performs other job related functions as assigned.
